SPEAKER(S):
Jesus Rubio
Graduated From Pasadena High School in 1991 and decided that college was not for me. Instead I enroll in a two your program at ITT in West Covina. Within a year I as building and repairing Computers for friends and family. By 1993 I was working for GTE(now Verizion) as a Electronic Repair Technician, within the year I acquired my first computer certification Novel's CNE (Certified Network Engineer). The early 90's was a hot market for Computer Network Administrators, allowing me to quickly find work as a network admin. By 1994, I as playing with windows for work groups (WWF) and NT 3.51. Microsoft's LanMan was not as fast as the 3.12 Novel File Server's I was administrating, but I could see that the learning curve for windows administration was not as steep. By late 1996 I had acquired my MCSE and started to play with SQL Server 6.5 and VB3. With a little effort and a lot of reading I was able create several small 2-tier apps. By Mid 2000 I had created applications with Access, VB, MFC, Delphi, Clipper, FoxPro, Smalltalk and Turbo Pascal. During the Pre .Net years of 2000 - 2001 I was struggling to learn COM,COM+,DCOM and Microsoft's whole DNA framework. Learning Java via Visual Notepad was also a pain, but I found the language elegant and more unified then Microsoft's DNA. When Microsoft release .Net in 2002 I found true love. OK OK OK, maybe not true love, but the CLR was definitely a step in the right direction. Today I do most of my development in C# using VS2005 and on occasion still build and repair computer's for friends and family. I still pursue computer certifications (MCSE 2003 ,MSCDBA, MCSD , Security/Network+...etc) because this industry just does not stand still.
